Preambule

To remember and honor the Skill, Greatness, and Wisdom of the late GM Kang Sin Sin (江新辰), the disciples Michael, Rio, and Febry decided to publish this website as we need to preserve the Wing Chun KungFu of the late GM Kang Sin Sin by spreading his way of teaching and the style that he learnt from the late GGM Ip Man (Yip Man), the late GM Leung Sheung, and the late GM Chu Shong Tin.

Instructor Profile
(International Wing Chun Martial Art - Indonesia)

Beginning
Michael’s journey on martial arts world started early when he was still in the third year of junior high school.  At the time, he was very keen in joining THS-THM which is a popular martial art organization among catholic teenagers which the style was more closely related to Pencak Silat.  There he focused more on meditation and breathing techniques.
Whilst still studying THS-THM, Michael also further his thirst of studying martial arts by practicing southern style kung-fu for almost three years.  Since the kung-fu teacher was unable to continue teaching, he started to look for other style of martial art.  In this search, he found Kyokushin Karate and started to embrace the style.  However, after approximately six months in Kyokushin Karate, Michael felt the need to improve his footwork and flexibility.  Hence, he decided to visit his relative who is a Taekwondo instructor in West Jakarta.
During his visit in 1996, Michael was introduced to the late GM Kang Sin Sin.  At the time, Wing Chun was not so popular in Jakarta, but Michael felt that there is something with this martial art style and started to train not long after the introduction.  At the time, Michael also still trained Kyokushin Karate regularly.
Not long after Michael started his Wing Chun training, his instructor for Kyokushin Karate was unable to continue teaching the class.  He decided to disband the class altogether and suggested Michael to join other Kyokushin dojo.  Standing in the cross-road, Michael then decided to choose Wing Chun as the way, instead of continuing Kyokushin.

Wing Chun training
Michael started his first Wing Chun class in Yayasan Jambi, Jembatan Tiga, with three other people.  At the time, the late GM Kang Sin Sin did not straight away teach Siu Nim Tao to his students, but instead started with San Cao techniques.  Approximately two months after, he started to teach the first set of Siu Nim Tao.  Since then, he incrementally added the material one at a time, since he insisted on perfection of one technique before moving on to another.  This approach causes lots of students to leave since they felt that nothing was achieved, however, the late GM Kang Sin Sin’s intention is pure to strengthen the basic before moving on to the more advanced level.
One day, after training, the late GM Kang Sin Sin asked Michael to also train Wing Chun in the big vihara in Ancol where he also taught Wushu to a number of people.  There, he trained together with the other students of Jakarta Wushu atheletes.  Not long after that, the training was then moved to Kelapa Gading area where he continued following the late GM.  Forms by forms were taught and finally, Michael managed to master all the forms taught by the late GM.  In late 2003, the late GM Kang Sin Sin certified Michael and two other students as successfully completed the whole system.  Sadly, shortly after that, Michael left for his postgraduate study in Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne, Jakarta, Hong Kong Connection
During his study in Melbourne, once in a while, Michael went back to Jakarta for holiday and frequently visited the late GM for chatting and also private training.  Michael also travelled to visit his wife’s family in Hong Kong and frequently paid a visit to GGM Chu Shong Tin.  Not long after GM Kang Sin Sin passed away in April 27th,2010; Michael and Rio visited GGM Chu Shong Tin to convey the sad news.
The sad news had taken GGM Chu Shong Tin aback since previously in the 1970s, the late GM Kang Sin Sin represented Wing Chun under GGM Chu Shong Tin.  On this visit, Michael then took the opportunity to ask whether he can further his Wing Chun with the GGM.  Sighting the certificate issued by the late GM Kang Sin Sin, the GGM allowed Michael to attend the Wing Chun class supervised by the GGM himself.
